Compare the conditions you will actually work under
A job title or starting pay does not describe the whole offer. Use a separate record for each role and ask the employer to confirm the terms that matter to you. This is a question framework, not an interpretation of an employment contract.
| Decision | Record or ask | Why it changes the next step |
|---|---|---|
| Orientation | Structure, supervision, feedback and support contacts | Ask what happens if additional support is needed. |
| Schedule | Shift pattern, weekends, location, travel and changes | Compare the written expectation with your available time. |
| Compensation | Base pay, differentials, benefits, eligibility dates and deductions | Keep conditional amounts distinct from guaranteed written terms. |
| Commitments | Training repayment, notice, probation and restrictions | Ask for clarification and qualified advice before accepting unclear obligations. |
Turn unknowns into questions
“Who supports a new nurse on each shift?” “How is progress during orientation assessed?” “Which schedule and location are part of the offer?” “Can you provide the policy behind this repayment condition?” Ask for written answers rather than treating informal comments as contractual terms.
Illustrative example — not a verified program
Offer A explains the orientation process but leaves weekend requirements unclear. Offer B lists shifts but not the support arrangements. Each has an unresolved question; a single overall score would hide those differences.
Keep the plan limited
Add general verification tasks to your plan, with your own decision dates. Do not store contracts, employee identifiers or private HR records here. Verify licensure with the regulator and start conditions with the employer; the checklist cannot authorize practice.
